Andy Roddick Engaged

If you ever needed a reason to hate Andy Roddick...this might do it for you.

He just released this statement on his official website:

"We are thrilled to announce that Andy and Brooklyn Decker (pictured above) are engaged to be married. Andy proposed in early March. The couple wanted to tell their family and close friends first but good news travels fast. By the time Andy arrived in Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open, the tournament was bustling with the news. The couple met in New York City last year and have been dating since. With their hectic travel schedules, Andy and Brooklyn plan to enjoy their engagement and will wait to set a wedding date."

Brady Ankle Healed

The Boston Herald has reported that the high ankle sprain Tom Brady suffered at the end of last season has fully healed.

I have a feeling I know what (reference above picture) has been keeping him off his feet this off-season.

The Definition Of "Grinning And Bearing"

Bush threw out the gameball at the Washington Nationals home opener last night.

Pointing...Or Heiling? YOU Decide

A British Tabloid (Times Online) has reported that Max Mosley, president of Formula One's governing body since 1993, took part in a "sadomasochistic orgy" with five prostitutes that reportedly involved Nazi role-playing.

The Times Online story stated that in the orgy Mosley "re-enacted a concentration camp scene in which he played the role of both guard and inmate. Speaking in German and brandishing a leather whip, he beat the women after allowing himself to be subjected to a humiliating inspection for lice and an interrogation in chains."

The Business Of College Basketball

The New York Times has an interesting article today focusing on Bruce Pearl (head coach of Tennesee) and Tony Bennett (head coach of Washington State).

The article details how much money a good basketball program can bring in for a school.

To give you an example of the impact Pearl has had on Tennessee:

"Four years ago, the Tennessee men’s basketball revenue concession was a little more than $200,000. This season, the concession revenue nearly reached $1.1 million. Before Pearl arrived, the Tennessee athletic department planned to renovate Thompson-Boling Arena. It was going to pay for the renovation by building 26 luxury suites. There were also plans to build a practice facility for $16 million.

When Pearl arrived, there was $2 million pledged toward the practice facility, and five of the suites were committed. Then Tennessee upset Texas on national television. All of the remaining suites were sold — in fact, 12 more were added. The money pledged for the practice facility ballooned to $24 million. The average crowd of 13,000 grew to 20,000."
