Isiah Thomas Is Not The Only One...

...the New York Knicks should get rid of. Next on the list to go should be Stephon Marbury.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he is one of the, if not THE, most overpaid athletes in the HISTORY of professional sports.

He is currently averaging (when he actually plays!) 13.9 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. His salary? $19,012,500. That works out to $231,859.76 per game. If you break it down even further the Knicks are paying Marbury $16,680.56 per point!

To give you an idea of just how undeserved Marbury's salary is...here is a list of three REAL franchise players with their current stats and salaries:

+ Lebron James: 30.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.4 assists per game.
Annual Salary: $13,041,250
Per Game Salary: $159,039.63
Per Point Salary: $5146.91

+ Kobe Bryant: 28.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists per game.
Annual Salary: $19,490,623
Per Game Salary: $237,690.52
Per Point Salary: $8428.74

+ Dirk Nowitzki: 23.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists per game.
Annual Salary: $16,360,094
Per Game Salary: $199,513.34
Per Point Salary: $8382.91

As you can see...in the case of Kobe and Dirk...Marbury is making nearly double what they are if you look at their Per Point Salary. And in the case of Lebron...Marbury is making three times as much!

Kobe has won 3 championships and Dirk and Lebron have both taken their teams DEEP in the playoffs. Marbury, on the other hand, has NEVER won a playoff series in his 12 year career with four different teams.

It's time for the Knicks to really CLEAN HOUSE if they want to turn that franchise around. Getting rid of Isiah AND Marbury would be a good start.
